Started in 1895 by Benjamin Klein, the Kayline Foundry produced acetylene gas lanterns at its Huron Road location in Cleveland, Ohio. As technology changed, Kayline produced solid brass and copper lanterns, chandeliers and table lamps. To this day, Kayline chandeliers can be found locally at the Cleveland Public Auditorium, Halle Building, Cleveland Public Library and throughout the USA.

In 1930, Michael Eskins purchased the Kayline Company after being employed as its bookkeeper for twelve years. During the Depression, Mr. Eskins moved the business to East 22nd & Scovill Avenue. A transformation to fluorescent lighting fixtures as its domain product line developed. This required setting up a more modern facility at East 45th & Lakeside Avenue.

In the early 1970s, due to the decline in construction and manufacturing, Kayline sought diversification to protect its interests. A new division distributing professional maintenance products and replacement light bulbs was developed. At this time, Michael Tobin was hired to run the new division.

In the mid-1980s, as the lighting fixture manufacturing industry became dominated by imports, Kayline closed its manufacturing facility and a distribution warehouse was established at East 33rd & Lakeside Avenue to focus on its professional maintenance product line. In 1991, Michael Tobin took over ownership and in 1995 Steven Robbins became a partner after 17 years in sales management with Kayline. Over the next two decades, Kayline established itself as an industry leader.
